Chris Liu's Baptism

August 20, 2011
Today was such a great day! We had another successful and smooth baptism today. Chris Liu is now the newest member of the Yale branch. e is a 16 year old stud. This guy has developed the most faith in the shortest amount of time. He's Guo mama's grandson. We had some good talks (given by Brother Chen and Guo mama), musical numbers (by the Ying twins), and baptism (performed by Brother Ying). It was amazing to see this young man be converted in the short time we have known him. He’s come to church 3 times but it took us 3 weeks to finally teach him the first lesson. He was so prepared though. I’ll never forget how firm his response was when we asked him to be baptized 4 days ago. He said very eagerly "yes. Definitely." and now he is officially a member of the Church. Chris bore a powerful testimony after his baptism. It was actually really neat because the whole time he was bearing his testimony, I was thinking to myself, dang he's a good speaker and seems like such a strong person at such a young age, and then Michael leans over to me and says, "this kid sounds like he's some kind of future leader or something." I really do think there is a lot in store for Chris. He seriously seems like the leader type. He’s a very confident and intelligent young man. I’ll never forget when Ben first told us about Chris. It was like 3 weeks ago when he first met Chris and his father. He told me that Chris will get baptized for sure before he goes back to China. I was a little doubtful but look now... Ben was right. The Lord can work wonders in such a short period of time. Guo mama was so appreciative of us helping her grandson join the church. She thanked me over and over again. She kept telling me we helped answered her prayers. She has been praying intensely for her grandson and son to come to America from China and be baptized. She totally believes this was God’s plan and we were the important tools that God used to bring her grandson into the church. Such a humbling experience.
