Oh wow - what a great day and what a great week in general! Elder Kim and I totally exceeded all the goals we set this week. This is probably the best week of my mission by far. So amazing. The day started off well with a good sacrament meeting. Sister Chamberlin and Sister Jirsa gave some good talks. One English speaker and one native Chinese speaker. A lot of our members were out of town, however, we had a bunch of members from LA and Hacienda Heights come to participate in today's service. They came down because we had a very special combined 3rd hour lesson provided by some LA Chinese members. They taught about the Chinese Mormon pioneers and explained the importance of genealogy and other family history work. It was pretty neat to hear all about LDS Chinese pioneers and how they started the church in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and all the other Chinese branches, wards, and stakes throughout the world. I learned a today about the history of the LDS Chinese members. Very cool. We had a TON of nonmembers at church today. So many people. Oh man, it was such a good day. We will be teaching a few new people this week. The work has just been sky-rocketing these past few weeks. Elder Kim and I have never been so busy before. I love it so much. The branch members are all so excited about it all so they keep providing referrals and telling us to teach their friends. We’ve completely gain the trust of all the members. They totally want us to teach their neighbors, family, and friends. Today we had lunch with Shu-Chuh and her family. We ate some great dumplings and potstickers. Shu-Chih is so awesome.
Before Christine's baptism, we picked up Hunter and Kevin Chen along with Kevin's son to go eat at the Kunz house. The Kunz invited us and the Chen family to eat with them at their house. We had a BBQ dinner to get pumped for the baptism. I got to chill with the Chen's kids for a long time. Gabrielle and Darnell are the two cutest and coolest children ever. I will send a picture to mom for her to see them. They are by far my 2 favorite kids. Anyways, the baptism went down so well tonight. Christine and Grace were there on time looking good. We took a bunch of pictures with Christine and her family and finally started the baptismal service. It was so great to see another person join the Church and Yale branch family. Christine was confirmed and received the Holy Ghost directly after her baptism. Brother Ying gave one of his usual super long but also super amazing blessings. Hunter also received the Holy Ghost today during sacrament meeting. So today we had 2 people officially become members of the Lord's flock. I have never seen the branch members so excited before. Everyone is like inviting us over to celebrate. All the members are like "we are taking you out to dinner this week!" and stuff like that. Oh yeah, Elder Kim forgot to pull the plug so the water never drained, as a result, Brother Ying took one for the team and jumped into the font with his suit pants and everything on. Brother Ying is amazing. That guy is the hardest worker, most charitable, and caring person I have met. I seriously look up to him so much.
Tonight we went over to the Yings for a little bit right before we went home. They invited us over for a little small meal to celebrate the 2 baptisms this weekend. We chilled with them for a half hour or so eating some good Taiwanese food. Sister Ying found out my favorite Chinese sauces and ended up giving me two bottles of them. She also gave me mangos because she knows that’s my favorite fruit. I love that family. They also go over the top and treat us so well. I love going to their house because I literally feel at home there. They seriously are my Chinese parents. That’s the best way to describe those two. This week was amazing. I saw so many miracles. Two souls entered into a covenant with God and opened up the door to eternal life by being baptized and confirmed this weekend. The branch is as happy as can be. Elder Kim and I are just BUSY BUSY BUSY every single day. This is the best week I have had on my mission so far. I will never forget this past week.
