A little water issue...

I guess I'll start with the best news... 2 baptisms on Saturday night!!!! Yep, that’s right we finally saw the fruits of our 6 weeks of labor. It was so great! I still haven’t had a transfer without 2 baptisms. I feel so blessed. However, the baptisms 2 days ago were not an easy thing. Every baptism always has its problems. It's so crazy how something always seems to go wrong at the last minute. It just goes to show that satan is trying his hardest to prevent these miracles from occurring. This time we had a water issue. My companion and I turned on the water at 2:00 pm, thinking we would have more than enough water in the font by 7:00 pm. So after turning on the water, leaving for 5 hours to proselyte and coming back at 6:45 pm to check on the font, we were shocked to see that there was barely 2 inches of water in the font. We panicked. The baptism was supposed to start in 15 minutes and the members and the two people being baptized were just arriving. We quickly ran and grabbed every bucket, garbage basket, and water bottle we could find and used every faucet in the church to fill them up. This wasn’t the most effective way to go about it, but it was all we could do. After 30 min of filling up the font with buckets we still only had about 4 inches of water. It wasn’t looking like the baptism would be possible that night. However, there was no way we were going to give up and postpone this special day. That’s when the members got to work. We had every member filling up buckets, using every faucet we could find, and even got the neighbors living around the area to help us out by allowing us to use their hoses. We had members drive home and fill up huge tubs of water and bring them back in various trucks. The whole time I was thinking to myself how much easier things we be if we were catholic (haha) just sprinkle a little water and you got a baptism. To say the least a miracle occurred. Instead of giving up and simply saying there’s no way to fill the font, we had an amazing team effort by the members and neighbors to fill up our baptismal font. We overcame the obstacle we faced and had the baptism an hour later than originally planned. We did it and it was so amazing to see how hard all these people were working for the benefit of their soon to be new church members. It was fellowshipping at its best! The baptisms went smooth after that little issue. It was amazing to hear the testimonies of these two people after their baptisms. I especially enjoyed Sister Cai's testimony (the woman that was baptized). She bore a very sincere testimony on repentance and shared her new favorite scripture which I had shared with her the night before over the phone (she gave me a lot of credit for that one over the pulpit, which has humbling). The scripture was Mosiah 4:11-12. She said that the testimony I bore to her the night before really touched her and she has a strong testimony of these 2 verses. It was amazing to hear her say this. Such a great night and an even better way to finish off my third transfer.
