Mid-Autumn Festival

Tonight we had a huge Mid-Autumn Festival party. This is one of the biggest holidays in the Chinese culture. We celebrated with a ton of food and a lot of performances. Elder Kim played this really ancient looking Chinese instrument, the relief society sisters sang a song, and then the primary kids acted out the mid-autumn festival story. The story is some old ancient Chinese tale about a place that had 10 suns. Because there were 10 suns everyone living there thought it was too hot, so they found a man who can shoot a bow and arrow really well. This man shot down 9 suns leaving one behind. Everyone in the town was so grateful for him doing that so they made him king of the empire. After becoming king, the man became very prideful and the people didn’t like him anymore. As a result they gave him this poison type liquid that made his body so light that he eventually flew away and landed on the moon where he is stuck all alone. That’s basically the end of the story. A little strange but it was so funny to see all those little cute Chinese kids act out this story. I really enjoyed it. The food tonight was amazing, too. The Yale branch activities are by far the best. Oh yeah, at the very end they did a lot of karaoke. Chinese people go nuts for that. It was such a fun night. I love the Yale branch. I really hope I never leave this branch until the end of my mission. I would be the happiest missionary if I could just stay here until I go home. That would be the most ideal situation. I’m getting pretty nervous about transfer call next week. I don’t know though because yesterday when President Bowen greeted/hugged me he told me he is so proud of me, loves reading my letters (he said my letters I send him each week make him weep because the spirit is so strong as he reads my words) and he says we're on fire down here in Irvine. I don’t think he plans on moving me. I hope that is his thought process…we'll see.
