Today went well. We had a great correlation meeting with Kyle Evans. As usual, he came up with some amazing ideas. Last night's English class was so good, too. We did a little show and tell type thing. Peggy has been dying to see pictures of my family and I before my mission. She kept saying how I looked like a movie star before my mission (lol). We had lots of new students. The Wu family came. They are an older couple, super nice. Their daughter and grandson were actually recently baptized. They were referred to us by the Korean elders. They came to English class and loved it. They even said they would bring a few of their friends to English class next week.
Elder Whited and I worked in my area today (on exchanges). We had a very effective day. We were able to teach the Wu family this afternoon. We had brother Ke come along with us to help teach this lesson. It went so well. The Wu’s are just so nice and always happy. They continually told me how impressed they were that I am able to speak Chinese and Taiwanese. It was a very good lesson. Elder Whited even found a way to participate by bearing his testimony and I translated it for them. Brother Ke did an amazing job of sharing his testimony. At the end of the lesson Mr. Wu offered a sincere prayer to know if what we taught was true or not. The Wu’s accepted our commitment to read the BOM and pray about it. We'll be seeing more of them for sure. The rest of the day didn’t go as planned. Unfortunately, a few of the people we planned to meet with rescheduled for tomorrow. No biggy. Elder Whited and I had a very good time contacting together. We did "the walk," That’s how I refer to the campus walk we do around UCI. We found a ton of Chinese people today. We met some really cool Taiwanese people who I just hit it off with really well. Great potential investigators. We had a good time talking to all those UCI students. I loved the contacting today – a lot of success and a lot of fun.
Tonight we had dinner with the Byers and the Yings over at the Aloha Kitchen Hawaiian restaurant. So good - awesome dinner! I mean, how could it have been better? Hawaiian food with the Yings and Byers...my favorite food with favorite families. Loved it! After dinner Elder Whited and I went back to UCI to finish the night off strong. It was a good day, went by so fast. It’s always a little exciting having an English speaking missionary in my area with me (I mean like a missionary who speaks no mandarin). I enjoyed it a lot. I basically got to do everything on my own today like in lessons and stuff. I thank God so much for blessing me with the gift of tongues. I love having the ability to communicate so effectively with Chinese people. I now feel so much more confident in my Chinese. I love this language so much. I love hearing it, speaking it, reading it, writing it, everything about it! I’m so happy and blessed to have this opportunity to learn mandarin and use this skill to help Chinese people learn the gospel. This is something I can and will do for the rest of my life. 1 out of 3 people in the world are Chinese. I’m so excited for my future and the idea of maintaining my Chinese and using this language to build up the church. I’m also so stoked for tomorrow. I cannot wait to hear Elder Perry!
